If you’ve been following us for a while, you know how much we love celebrating birthdays! Well, one of our favorites is turning 70 today. Neil Diamond, the successful American singer-songwriter was born on January 24, 1941. He’s the third most successful Adult Contemporary artist ever (ever!)—just behind Barbara Streisand and Elton John. 2011 is going to be a big year for him, too… he’s being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

What’s your favorite Neil Diamond song? Ours is probably “Cherry, Cherry.” (This could be because it reminds us of some of our favorite flavors of candy!) It was issued as a single in 1966 and became Neil Diamond’s first big hit—reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October of that year.

Trying to figure out how to celebrate Neil Diamond’s birthday? How about cracking open a box of Airheads Candy? You can pull out all of the cherry flavored ones, listen to some Neil Diamond music, and have a very cherry afternoon! (We suggest trying a few of the White Mystery flavor, too. You never know when it might taste like cherry!) If someone you know is having a birthday like Neil, we have plenty of gift baskets that can help you celebrate a 70th birthday!

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that today is also the dear departed John Belushi and Warren Zevon’s birthday.

And we’d like to wish a big, big Woodstock Candy happy birthday to Ernest Borgnine—he’s 94 today! (Did you catch him in the movie Red?)

If you love candy as much as we do, you love hearing what other people have to say about it, too. The other day while we were eating some of our favorite retro candies, we compiled a list of some fun and funny candy quotes. We hope you like them!

“Anyone who uses the phrase 'easy as taking candy from a baby' has never tried taking candy from a baby.” – Anonymous

“I like vending machines, because snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at the store, oftentimes I will drop it so that is achieves its maximum flavor potential.” – Mitch Hedberg

I feel like a human pinata. The disappointing thing is, no candy is going to spill out.” – Katie Couric

“I want to get a vending machine, with fun sized candy bars, and the glass in front is a magnifying glass. You'll be mad, but it will be too late.” – Mitch Hedberg

“This Halloween, the most popular mask is the Arnold Schwarzenegger mask. And the best part? With a mouth full of candy you will sound just like him.” – Conan O’Brien

What are your favorite candy quotes? Share them with us! We’d love to hear them. In the meantime, make sure you munch on some delicious Woodstock Candy.
