If you don’t believe in the joyous celebration of 40th birthdays, that’s just fine, be that way.  But you might change your mind when you check out some of the oh-so-memorable candy from 1971. Candy can be the ultimate time machine.

Candy from 1971 reminds us that the gift of glamour was not in those Candies shoes your mother wore, but in the promise of melt-in-your-mouth Op Art wrapped up sweetly from the corner store. Candy feels like the first time we met, the first time we kissed and the first time our mother let us off from washing the dishes, as long as we were home by the time the street lights went on.  Take a walk down memory lane with candies that spark vivid memories.

Try these retro candies tonight:

Atomic Fireballs, BB Bats, Bit-O-Honey, Bonomos Turkish Taffy, Candy Buttons on Paper, Candy Cigarettes, Candy Necklaces, Candy Lipstick, Chick-O-Stick, Chiclets, Chuckles, Dots, Dubble Bubble Gum, Gold Mine Gum, Fun Dip, Lemonheads, Mary Janes, Red Hots, Wax Lips, Zotz, Tootsie Rolls, Pixy Stix, Razzles, Pop Rocks, Necco Wafers, Root Beer Barrels, Boston Baked Beans, Sugar Daddy Jr., Now and Later, and Smarties.

Candy was better than Rainbow Sandals and better than the Rolling Stones. Lace up those Chemin de fer jeans and rock on. Candy is the Hotel California of our future and our past. The fact is, that the candy we craved and hunted down pop bottles for the deposit money to buy, can never be denied a place in our hearts.

Candy in a piñata says party. Candy is the most versatile pick-me-up on the planet. Maybe the revolution of the 60’s was dead by the 70’s, but the candy treats lived on.  Star Wars, Hot Wheels, Lightning Bolt Skateboards and candy from 1971 all took us to outer space.

The history of candy is refined. If sugar was an acquired taste from the Americas, the entrance of candy from refined sugar was an illuminating experience for the courts of the Monarchies in the Old World. The hunger for candy was a driving force for the conquistadors and privateers of old Europe. In the New World, we have always had it; these sugary treats that were almost as precious as gold, and were partially responsible for the conquest of once mighty empires in the New World.

Once you pop those sweet treats into your mouth, you are riding your Big Wheel down the sidewalk again. After school delight may have turned into Studio 54 nights, but the satisfaction from the sweetness of candy from 1971 has remained consistent throughout our lives. Buy the best nostalgic treats from Woodstock Candy.

Nothing says ‘Hey, Hey, Hey it’s your 40th birthday’ with good old American spirit like candy. Stay young; eat candy.

If this retro trip to Candyland looks like a good one, you might want to click here to find out more.  Woodstock Candy specializes in old school candy and gift items, boxes and baskets for nearly any occasion.  Their online store is a delight for candy lovers, nostalgia buffs, gift givers and birthday party ideas.  Take a virtual walk down memory lane.

People are always interested in buying things that their children will adore. It can be difficult to decide on a particular character because there are so many new television shows that surface each year.  One of the TV shows that continue to remain a staple is Sesame Street. Kids have loved these characters for many years, and Elmo is one of the most popular Muppets from this long running television series.  This is one reason that the Elmo Mug will always be a popular item.

Kids are really impressed with this great mug because it shows off the delightful furry red character that America has continued to love.  This is great mug that parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles can purchase.  It’s a nice gift that compliments all the other Sesame Street toys that children usually already have.  Elmo mug continues to be in demand because the character has been revamped several times. The stuffed toys have generated a demand for this furry little character that teaches children about letters, colors and lots of other things.

It is a common misconception, however, to believe that children are the only ones that will appreciate these mugs. Elmo has been around for quite some time. As a matter of a fact, he’s been a recurring character on the Street “where the air is free” since the early 70’s.  That would make the eternally 3-1/2 year old Elmo 40-something at this point, so it goes without saying that some children that are now adults, might get a warm and fuzzy feeling when they see that warm and fuzzy red guy on a mug.  That's is why it’s a great gift for some adults, too. There are certainly lots of adults that still think of this furry little character as their good buddy.

One should consider buying this gift for some of their adult friends as well, and especially if they’re almost as old as Elmo (Hint: great 40th Birthday gift!).  And it would be a great companion present for the Sesame Street lunch boxes that are available  at Woodstock Candy and are absolutely adorable.  Believe it or not, there are two different models of Sesame Street lunch boxes, and one is cuter than the next.  Since brown bagging has become a more popular option at lunchtime, a cool lunchbox might just come in handy for a healthy, not-fast-food lunch.  And after coworkers see the lunchbox, they’ll know who that Elmo mug belongs to.

Mugs continue to be a popular gift item, and with good reason. These sturdy drinking cups are very valuable to many people, since the ones given as gifts can remind the recipient of the occasion when they were given.  Who doesn’t like a nice warm and fuzzy memory along with their morning coffee or tea?

When parents buy things for their children they will often have a lot of options. There are so many different iconic characters from different television shows and games. Many parents may be surprised to find that their children are still interested in some of the shows that have been around for decades. Parents that buy things like lunchboxes may be looking for themes from newer shows, but the Sesame Street lunch box represents what is still one of the most popular shows for kids, and with the award-winning formula that the PBS show has kept pristine and new for almost 44 years, one of the shows that no one will disapprove of a child watching. So why not encourage this healthy interest by getting one for your child?  In many areas, parents would have a difficult time trying to find something like this in stores, so an online search might be the best and only way to find one.

For many parents it is worth their time and effort to find products like this. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles can get this gift without worrying about whether they have chosen the character that the child favors the most, because all of the favorites are present on the front of the Sesame Street Lunch Box – Bert, Ernie, the Count, the Cookie Monster, Elmo and Oscar the Grouch are all present on the front panel.

But another way to look at this adorable lunch box is from the standpoint that Sesame Street premièred on PBS in November of 1969.  That would mean that kids who began watching the show when they were five or six years old are now nearing the Big 5-0.  And there’s a very good chance that anyone who is that age or younger personally spent time in front of their TV in the company of Big Bird, Bert & Ernie and the rest of the Sesame Street Gang.  Any one of those 30 to 50 year old birthday boys or girls will have a hard time suppressing a smile when presented with a reminder of their childhood.  Some of those tough old guys might even get a tear in their eye, remembering those snow days or summer vacation days, spent chasing the clouds away at Sesame Street.

Since so many people have started brown-bagging their lunch, either due to tightened economics, shorter lunch periods or the desire to eat healthy and avoid fast foods, this Sesame Street Lunch Box might just be the perfect gift for that 30, 40 or 50 something birthday celebration coming up.  It is reasonably priced, nicely made and just as cute as a button.  And it wouldn’t even have to be used as a lunch box; as a gift item, it could be stuffed with nostalgic candy from the era of the recipient’s childhood, a bottle of cologne or even a diamond bracelet.  The possibilities as a gift item for an adult who has fond Sesame Street memories are endless.

Where to buy Chuckles candy? Maybe you haven't seen them lately at your local stores, but they are still being manufactured and distributed even if they aren't as easy to find as they once were.

These lovely jelly candies are truly nostalgic treats. First introduced in 1921 by the Chuckles Company, this candy has been around for quite a while. The company was bought by Nabisco in 1970, and changed ownership until it was sold to Farley’s and Sather’s Candy Company in 2002 who are the present owners.

These typical jelly candies are quite nice and have intense favors unlike many jelly candies. However, much of their attraction comes from their form and packaging, which is the same today as it was in the 1970's. Each package of Chuckles contains five nice-sized candies, each a different color and flavor that sit side by side on a cardboard sheet. They are comprised mostly of corn syrup and sugar with artificial, and some natural, colors and flavors.

Each Chuckle is a brightly colored, firm jelly sprinkled lightly with sugar. These candies have just the perfect amount of stickiness so that they adhere to the teeth for a long time. Of course, this is for added enjoyment.

The jellies come in five classic flavors: orange, cherry, lemon, lime and licorice. The cherry Chuckle has a strong burst of artificial cherry favoring that is somewhat reminiscent of a well-known candy cough drop. The orange is very sweet with just a small bite of citrus, and has a very intense orange favor. The lemon chuckle’s flavor is lighter, and also sweet with no hint of sour. The lime is sweet with a very artificial taste that can take one right back to memories of childhood. Most lime candies of the era had a similar flavoring. The licorice has a pleasant taste that teases the tongue but doesn’t overpower like a rope licorice sometimes can.

So if you are asking where to buy Chuckles candy, it just might be because it would be very satisfying to rediscover the sensation and flavor of this longtime favorite. It's true that adults often miss the candies that bring back nostalgic memories of childhood. Then again, sometimes wondering where to buy chuckles, or some other favorite candy, is directly related to wanting to share the memory, and the very specific taste, with a child or other loved one.

Your friend is sick or has just had surgery and you want to send them something, but flowers seem too common or cheesy to you. A card isn't enough and money might seem impersonal and not appropriate. There are some great alternatives out there to the traditional get-well gift ideas and sending a Get Well Candy Basket is one of them.

Flowers will wilt and die. Unless you are sending a plant, that beautiful floral arrangement isn't likely to last more than perhaps a week maybe two if a person gets lucky. This has often been sighted as one of the downfalls of flowers. They die and are no longer something a person wants to look at and so they get tossed. A handful of people might try drying them to preserve the bouquet but face it; even then they can fall apart and create a mess that has to be swept up.  A candy basket won’t have this weakness, and will provide a delicious alternative to flower bouquets.

Chances are you probably know what type of candy your loved one likes, but knowing their favorite type of flower isn't as likely. There are many ways of choosing which way to go with the candy basket. One way to go is to choose to make the basket yourself. You can pick out the basket and the candy that is to go in it and arrange it however you desire. If you don't have the time to do this or perhaps you want your Get Well Candy Basket to look more professional than what you can do, consider ordering a basket from a florist, online, or from another company that specializes in delivering gifts.

There are a great variety of candy baskets available. Many are tailored by gender for men or women. Usually this is based on the look of the basket and according to color. Candy baskets are also made to appeal to children and teens offering a wide variety of different candies for different tastes. You can even find them based on your relationship with the person such as a coworker or best friend. These baskets are most often prearranged and you can see the final product in a photo online or in person if you're buying from a store. The look and contents of these get well gifts is very vast.

Some Get Well Candy Baskets are made to actually sort of resemble a floral arrangement. These usually include a lot of colored candies like suckers and taffy. Others may be a plain basket filled with candy to look nice. Many online companies even allow for personalization of the candy in the baskets. Other baskets may include more than just candy with something like a gift card. The variety is endless.

Giving a candy basket is something unique. It is a get well present that is not likely to be immediately forgotten amongst the flowers. It's a gift worth giving.

Many adults look back on the days of their youth with very fond memories. Many of them remember buying cigarette candy sticks when they were young. There are lots of different types of candy bars and candy pieces that have replaced old candies. All hope is not lost for those that still enjoy that old-time candy, though. There are websites that bring back the magic of the older days with lots of classic candies that cannot be found in stores.

It is certainly an enjoyable moment to learn that cigarette candy sticks are sold online. This is where people go when they want to get some great candy that cannot be found in stores. The first thing that many people think about when they see this candy sold is whether they can buy it in bulk. This is always a good idea because it will last much longer this way.

Some people may want to wait until the holidays, but they don't have to. There are so many occasions when buying candy can be a really great idea. It doesn't have to be Valentine's Day or Halloween. These are good occasions to consider buying large sums of candy, but many people may just want these oh-so-politically-incorrect cigarette candy sticks to have around for conversation pieces or for party favors, especially for those Over-the-Hill occasions, like high school reunions. Adults get particularly happy about finding candy like this, though one probably wouldn’t want to hand out candy cigarettes to the kids for Halloween.

In this day and age many people rely on the Internet to secure so many different types of things. People shop for electronics and clothes online. The Internet has also become a great source for books and music. Few people may be aware that the Internet is such a great place to shop for things like this retro, old school candy.

The great thing about the online shopping concept in terms of shopping for candy is all the different styles that it can be purchased. Some people like to buy big candy baskets for loved ones. Others prefer decorative assorted candy arrangements that tailored to the recipient’s age or favorites. Anyone that receives candy from some of these online vendors will definitely consider themselves to be lucky. So many classics candies, like these cigarette candy sticks, Chuckles, those big wax lips and Pixie Styx are thought to be no longer available. That is why it brings such a great feeling of nostalgia to the hearts of those that adored this candy in their youth when they find out that there is still a place to get it. The market has a lot of different types of new candy products, but people always rejoice when they find the old-fashioned candies.

A lot of people are not aware that these types of sites exist, especially about the availability of these old-fashioned candies online – so please, come on and spread the word. There are lots of people that may be in search of something like this. These candies can make great birthday surprises for older folks that probably grew up on this type of candy. It certainly puts a smile on the faces of many individuals who have not seen it in a long time.

People searching for this type of candy online will be in luck. The Internet gives people access to things that brick and mortar stores just cannot provide.

A half century, five decades, two complete generations, or 50 years; no matter how it is said, the thought can be intimidating, especially when referring to age. An individual who has ever looked for reading glasses that were on their heads, walked into a room and forgotten why they were there, or fallen asleep ten minutes into a two hour movie can join the fifty plus club. If 40 is over the hill, then turning 50 means rolling down the hill at full throttle! How can anyone experience a Happy 50th birthday when it seems depressing?

This milestone should be viewed as a major accomplishment. Take a look back at life and remember the multiple instances when life could have ended. Near misses are a part of life, and with the type of hustle in modern culture, an accidental death is always close by. Often times people choose to look at this type of milestone with worry and fatigue; however, life is a blessing every day that one has the opportunity to live it.

Jokes have been made that when folks reach a certain age, they should read the obituaries each morning before they start their day in order to make sure they are still alive. Although that is a cute saying, it often seems that this is the mantra that many people follow. A person’s outlook on life determines much about how it is lived. Young people are encouraged regularly to have a “positive mental outlook,” but it appears as though the more experienced generation does not always practice what they have preached.  There is absolutely no reason not to have a Happy 50th! After all, what's the alternative?

Recent studies have proven that the generations of fifty-somethings and older are a tremendous benefit to their society. This is the season of life when most individuals have become or are becoming grandparents. One perspective on this “grand” period of life is that a grandparent can be a major influence in the life of grandchildren. Instead of just living out the remaining years of life sulking over age or past failures, they can get involved and mentor the next generation. After all, they have already had one go-round with their children and should have an idea of what things work and what can be done differently. It seems that some in this generation have determined that their usefulness is through because they achieved some magical old age. Ancient history, including Biblical records, gives evidence of the fact that the family originally consisted of multiple generations who lived together as clans. In fact, until the 1940’s, when our society became so mobile, it was not uncommon for four generations to reside together in the same house. The wisdom and compassion of the elder grandparent passed down to the child is a priceless treasure. The over fifty class has certainly earned privileges through hard times and hard work, but they also have mental and financial resources, and so much experience that can be a benefit to the generations that follow.

Fifty is not the end of the world. In fact, the world should look less intimidating now, because it can be seen from a more mature and experienced perspective. Influence and experience come at a price, but they can be used to impact the future. People truly can have a Happy 50th when they realize they are still important!
